We are looking for an IT Assistant to provide efficient and effective first and second-line computer and application support to academics, students, research and administrative staff within Cardiovascular Medicine based at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The department has facilities, laboratories and administrative offices within the Oxford Centre for Magnetic Resonance Research (OCMR), the Clinical Cardiovascular Research Facility (CCRF), Acute Multidisciplinary Imaging and Interventional Centre (AMIIC) and within levels 5 and 6 of the West Wing at the JR.

The day-to-day IT support provided will be supervised by the IT Manager for Cardiovascular Medicine (CVMed). You will be based primarily within OCMR but will be expected to form a collaborative working relationship with MSD IT Services as an Associate.  In return they will receive technical line management, support and challenge as well as access to MSD IT’s wide range of tools and services, including service management tools, and the technical experience of its staff (around 20 FTE).

Your responsibilities include general computing support for staff, researchers and students across Cardiovascular Medicine department. You will respond to IT queries in a helpful and timely manner, resolving low and intermediate level problems and referring high-level problems to the IT Officers, as required. You will also be required to set IT equipment and software to comply with University regulations.

You are required to be educated to at least A-level, or have equivalent knowledge, experience, intellectual capacity and reasoning skill to that level and knowledge and experience of Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. To include desktop deployment, support and troubleshooting. Knowledge of medical imaging systems and networks would be desirable.

This is a full time appointment on a fixed term contract for 3 years and you will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU.
