As a Learning Advocate, you would play a key role in supporting learners with their GCSE and Functional English and maths, on a one-to-one or small group basis. You would support students both inside and outside of their classes, working closely with the English and Maths teams and vocational curriculum staff. This will involve planning support sessions and providing regular feedback to supported learners to enable them to develop confidence and make progress in their English and maths classes.
We are looking for individuals with a passion for maths and / or English. You will need to have a good level of numeracy and literacy skills, and preferably have some experience of supporting young people with numeracy or literacy needs in an educational environment. You will have good communication skills, be well-organised and be able to motivate and build good working relationships with young people. This could be an ideal role for someone considering a first step into teaching.
