The Institute of Education in Healthcare and Medical Sciences, located within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, University of Aberdeen, is one of the UK’s leading centres for medical, medical sciences and dental education. The Institute launched the Centre of Healthcare Education Research and Innovation (CHERI) in May 2017. Led by Dr Anita Laidlaw, CHERI’s vision is to achieve a global reputation for academic excellence in healthcare education research, by supporting high-quality, important research focusing on relevant issues, and developing tomorrow’s researchers.
The overall purpose of this role is to support the NIHR funded research project to explore how physicians associates may help (or not) to address the workforce crisis in the NHS. It is envisaged the programme of work will inform thinking on regulation, integration and acceptability of PAs in NHS hospitals and guide policy-makers and NHS employers facing sever staff shortages. It is a collaborative project led by the University of Oxford but a significant part of the work will be undertaken in NHS Grampian using qualitative research methodology and the production of case studies.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £37,099 - £40,521 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
