Goodenough College

Location: London
Salary: £32,000 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 25th June 2024
Closes: 11th July 2024

Location: Goodenough College, Mecklenburgh Square, London WC1N 2AB

Goodenough College is an educational charity, providing accommodation to international postgraduate students (we call them Members) and their families in a friendly and collegiate setting across a picturesque London Square. The College offers a variety of accommodation options from shared single rooms, ensuite rooms and family flats, alongside grand halls, libraries, and common rooms. The College’s charitable mission is to create a stimulating, inclusive and supportive residential community.

We are currently recruiting for a House Administrator for the Registry department. A key responsibility is for you to provide administrative and welfare support to our Members. As the first point of contact for Members’ concerns, you will listen, advise, and provide guidance. Additionally, you will assess and source relevant support for Members with disabilities or other illnesses. The role involves updating the Members database, providing management information and reports, and enforcing College rules, procedures, and policies. The role also includes managing the membership renewals process, ensuring timely collection of information, logging it, and advising the renewals panel on the member's suitability to remain at the College.

The ideal candidate will be educated to GCSE standard or have an NVQ equivalent or be able to demonstrate a comparable level of ability. You should have a broad administrative experience and a background in a customer-focused environment, with a broad knowledge of the higher education sector. You must be capable of organising your own time and workload. Proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, is essential, along with competent use of databases in a work environment and accurate record-keeping with high attention to detail. We expect you to be numerate, have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, and a practical approach to problem-solving.

As this role is people-facing, you are expected to be present working at College premises for most of the working week. Our normal working hours are 9am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays.

The College is offering a salary of £32,000 per annum, 25 days annual leave, additional two days at Christmas and free meal when working on site. If you think you might be that person, please read the full job description and person specification for the role in the vacancies section on our website www.goodenough.ac.uk  before applying.

Please send your CV and a short cover letter, setting out your reasons for applying and relevant experience to Zakiyah Kihl, HR Manager at jobs@goodenough.ac.uk (via the ‘Apply’ button above). CVs without cover letters may not be considered.

Closing date: 11am on Thursday 11 July 2024

Applicants must provide evidence of the right to live and work in the UK.

Goodenough College is committed to and proud of its equality of opportunity and diversity in employment. We welcome all applicants. If invited to interview, please let us know of any specific access requirements you may have.
