The successful candidate will provide leadership and support for teaching, learning and assessment activities, including lectures, tutorials, project supervision, laboratories, practical and field work.

You will have a good honours degree (minimum 2:1) or equivalent, in an engineering or other discipline relevant to the post, together with a PhD or equivalent doctoral-level qualification or substantial relevant professional experience in a field directly relevant to the post.

Sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge (through previous research or industrial experience) in the themes of: Sustainable Cities; Net Zero Carbon Design; Climate Adaptation Strategies; Shelters and Infrastructures for Emergencies applied within a humanitarian engineering context is essential.

You will be familiar with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning and have proven competence in teaching in higher education or equivalent industrial training in the relevant areas. As an Assistant Professor (T-focused), it is essential that you have the ability to use a range of delivery techniques to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire effective learning, and have experience of curriculum design or civil engineering experience and knowledge which can inform the curriculum.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to colleagues and students and to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will have strong communication, IT, time management and organisational skills. You will have an understanding of equal opportunity issues and practical health and safety concerns in a teaching or industrial context.

If relevant, you must be willing to complete Warwick’s Academic and Professional Pathway for Teaching Excellence (APP TE) and/or seek (further) HEA accreditation when in post. While the position is teaching-focussed, as part of your role we will strongly encourage and support you in the pursuit of individual scholarly and/or pedagogical research to contribute to the lively research culture of the Department.

We welcome applicants with industrial experience that can inform an industrially relevant curriculum and who have a desire to engage in research such as pedagogic engineering education.  You must have the capacity to contribute collegiately to the life and community of the School by undertaking a variety of duties, such as supporting offer holder days and outreach activities which may occasionally require weekend work.

Full details of the skills, knowledge and experience required are in the attached job description.
