The Director of Environmental Sustainability is the University’s inaugural senior lead with responsibility for all aspects of environmental sustainability, including shaping of policy and strategy, embedding sustainability into the teaching curriculum and research portfolio, and delivering wide-ranging programmes to achieve the University’s science-based targets for the reduction of Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
Working in partnership with our Academic, Research and Professional Services colleagues, the successful candidate will collaborate with local, regional and national stakeholders to establish the University of Nottingham as a leading global institution for excellence in environmental sustainability. Reporting to the Director of Estates and Facilities and leading a dedicated sustainability team, the Director of Environmental Sustainability will also work closely with the University Executive Board
The post holder will bring strong technical understanding in addition to experience of developing sustainability policy and strategy across a large, complex estate, which could be in higher education, the wider public sector or a commercial setting.
