Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Centre for Perinatal Neuroscience within the Department of Brain Sciences, Imperial College London.
We lead one of the largest clinical research programs in neonatal encephalopathy in the world, involving over 40 hospitals in six countries. We are looking of an ambitious neonatal nurse with excellent attention to details, who want to explore a potential career in neonatal brain research. You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team and act as an expert resource for staff, researchers, research participants and patients. You will lead on the training and supervision of staff and researchers at various national and international recruiting sites. You will be expected to actively contribute to the neonatal brain research, participate in the data analysis and presentation of research data in major national and international conferences.
Around three million babies die or sustain life changing disabilities from hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (birth related brain injury) every year. Over 95% of the disease burden occur in low and middle-income countries. We lead one of the largest clinical research programs in hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in the world and have an established track record of conducting impactful research.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Neonatal Neurology Research Nurse you will take a leading role in the management of care pathways for patients and carers participating in research. You will support colleagues through the research study process, including clinical aspects associated with the research study. You will be involved in recruitment and as an expert resource, you will provide in-depth knowledge on aspects pertinent to acquiring and maintaining informed consent. You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team and act as an expert resource for staff, researchers, research participants and patients. You will lead on the development and updating of local policies and procedures and contribute to the development of national policies. You will lead on the training and supervision of staff and researchers at various national and international recruiting sites.
You will be expected to actively contribute to the neonatal brain research, participate in the data analysis and presentation of research data in major national and international conferences.
Essential Requirements
The post holder will be also responsible for the governance aspects of the ongoing including obtaining regulatory approvals, submitting amendments, developing standard operating procedures, assisting in preparation of grants, protocol development, scientific presentations and publication of papers. There will be opportunities for skills development and mentoring and support for pursuing an academic career.
It is essential that for this role you are a registered Neonatal/ Paediatric Nurse (RSCN/ RNC)
