As our student numbers increase and we continue to diversify our programmes and portfolio, we are looking for high-calibre people to join our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion team as a Schools Outreach Officer.

This role presents a chance to work in a newly forming role. As the Schools Outreach Officer, you'll be an integral part of the Widening Participation (WP) team. Here, you'll engage directly with school and college pupils, aiming to enhance their understanding of higher education and bolster social mobility, particularly among those underrepresented in university settings. You will contribute to the design and delivery of programmes that aim to raise pre-16 attainment and future university enrolment. Key responsibilities include managing relationships with schools, colleges and external organisations across a designated geographical area, as well as  booking and delivering outreach activities both within educational institutions and on our campuses. Additionally, you'll contribute to broader initiatives such as open days, supporting our Domestic Student Recruitment Team.

As our Schools Outreach Officeryou will:

  • Develop relationships with schools, colleges and external organisations
  • Design outreach sessions and events
  • Book and deliver outreach activities with schools and colleges
  • Attend a range of higher education fairs in schools and colleges
  • Support the preparation and delivery of Domestic Student Recruitment (DSR) activities

We are looking for people who are/have:

  • The ability to create high quality sessions and resources
  • Proficient in delivering interactive presentations and workshops to diverse audiences
  • Interpersonal abilities to develop effective working relationships with people
  • Organised and are able to work independently
  • A full driver’s license, access to a car, and are willing to do frequent travel to schools both local to the Manchester campus and within the surrounding counties
