We have two significant positions in Ceramics available at Chelsea College of Arts. We have a full-time vacancy for 6 months to cover paternity leave. After this period, there will be a permanent role available for 3 days/week. Please declare in your application if you would like to apply for only a portion of this full time role (ie: job share).
This specialist resource is configured to allow Art and Design students to expand on their existing research. It’s a space where almost anything is possible in clay. While this is a well-established resource, this is your opportunity to dive in, put all your skills to use, and maybe even learn a few new ones.
About you
We’re looking for someone who has experience with large and small-scale hand building, pottery, glazing, moldmaking, and slipcasting. You’ll also need to have experience loading and firing kilns for weekly oxidation and reduction firings. We’re very lucky to have both gas, electric, top loaders, front loaders, and a test kiln. You'll also need some familiarity with basic kiln maintenance.
This workshop is situated between woodwork and moldmaking resources, so you’ve got lots of other skilled colleagues nearby. You’ll also have ceramics colleagues at Camberwell College of Art you can correspond and collaborate with.
Should you have any questions about the role, please contact Jonathan Armistead, Technical Operations Manager 3D Workshops / j.c.armistead@camberwell.arts.ac.uk
Should you have any questions about the application process or require reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Adrienne Marsh, Resourcing Advisor / jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk
