The opportunity

The opportunity exists for a suitably experienced candidate to contribute to support delivery and administration of the Biomechanics provision on the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It is essential that you have a significant grasp of the academic, technical and/or professional nature of Biomechanics and can communicate this with clarity. 

As a Technical Demonstrator (Biomechanics), you will maintain and develop the Biomechanics Labs. You will provide technical support for lectures and research and ensure the labs and equipment are ready for teaching work based learning and related learning activities and for research and innovation projects.

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent staff and student experience.

What you’ll do – key duties 

  • Supervise laboratory work and processes undertaken by staff, students and visitors.
  • Demonstrate practical techniques and processes and the operation of equipment in teaching rooms, specialist facilities to staff, students and visitors.
  • Advise and support academic / research staff and students on the use and application of techniques, equipment and process associated with programmes of study and research and innovation activities.
  • Support the delivery of practical and seminar sessions aligned to practical work and which have been planned by academic staff.
  • Advise on the purchase of new equipment and required maintenance of existing equipment.
  • Purchase replacement or new equipment and consumable items. Undertake budgetary control, in close liaison with discipline staff and SROM.

What we are looking for

  • Degree in sport and exercise science, biomechanics, engineering or another relevant discipline.
  • You will bring Experience and expertise with scientific laboratory equipment including calibration procedures and minor maintenance.
  • Experience of laboratory practices.
  • Experience of appropriate computer hardware and software packages for data collection (Vicon Nexus, CodaMotion, Qualysis, or similar) and data analysis (Visual 3D, Matlab, or similar).

Rydym yn chwilio am ymgeisydd profiadol addas i gyfrannu at gefnogi'r ddarpariaeth Biomecaneg a gwaith gweinyddu ar raglenni israddedig ac ôl-raddedig yr Ysgol. Mae'n hanfodol bod gennych afael sylweddol ar natur academaidd, technegol a/neu broffesiynol o Fiomecaneg a'ch bod yn gallu cyfathrebu hyn yn eglur. 

Fel Technegydd Arddangoswr T (Biomecaneg), byddwch yn cynnal a datblygu'r Labordai Biomecaneg. Byddwch yn darparu cefnogaeth dechnegol ar gyfer darlithoedd ac yn sicrhau bod y labordai a'r offer yn barod ar gyfer addysgu yn seiliedig ar  waith a gweithgareddau dysgu cysylltiedig ac ar gyfer prosiectau ymchwil ac arloesi. 

Byddwch yn weithiwr proffesiynol brwdfrydig a chyfeillgar gyda sgiliau cyfathrebu, trefnu a rhyngbersonol rhagorol ynghyd ag ymrwymiad i ddarparu profiad staff a myfyrwyr rhagorol.
