The new Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business will be launched on 1st August 2024.
The Faculty will consist of four Departments constituted from two existing Schools: Dundee Business School (working title), Games and Arts, Game Technology and Mathematics, and Cybersecurity.
The Faculty will be the home of Abertay’s undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in law, accounting, finance, business, management, marketing, human resources, cybersecurity, applied computer science, computer games and digital arts. Abertay was one of the first universities in the world to offer degrees in Computer Games Technology and Ethical Hacking and we are an international leader in these fields.
As part of its undergraduate and postgraduate provision, we have established a growing number of national, international and online partnerships. Our programmes are relevant, informed by industry needs, and have a focus on practical application and innovative solutions to real world settings. We aim to ensure that students will gain not only a valuable qualification, but also transferable skills to allow them to fulfil their ambitions.
The Faculty has well-established links with industry in both computer games and cybersecurity and has secured more than £25M in recent years to grow the regional economy by working in partnership with industry to deliver new processes, products and IP to support business growth and development.
Our research in Law informs policy and legislation, and is focused on employment law and reproductive rights, transnational law-enforcement, family law, trafficking in human beings, IP law, medical law, bioethics, cyber law, and applied ethics. Research by the Accounting, Business and Management subject group, similarly, covers a variety of subject areas, including sustainability and corporate social responsibility, consumer behaviour, women in entrepreneurship, new product development and risk management, work-life balance, digital marketing and SMEs, international human resource management and corporate governance.
The University now seeks to appoint a Head of Department for the Dundee Business School, which includes the disciplines of law, business, marketing and accounting.
