The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about project delivery? We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic PMO Analyst with excellent communication skills to join the Project, Programme and Portfolio Office (PMO) in Information Services (ISG).

The ISG PMO supports an incredible variety of projects and programmes of all sizes and of varying complexity, working with project, programme and portfolio managers, as well as staff across Information Services and the wider University. As a PMO Analyst, you will use your experience and understanding of project delivery to provide high quality PMO services to this diverse community, including the management and continual improvement of our project, programme and portfolio management (PPM) systems.

The role is open-ended, offers a salary of £39,347 to £46,974 pa and has a hybrid-working pattern, involving working on-campus in Edinburgh at least one to two days a week and when necessary for in-person meetings and activities.  Working hours are ideally 35hrs per week.

What the job involves:

You will support project, programme and portfolio delivery through the provision of high quality PMO services, including:

  • Development, support and continual improvement of our project, programme and portfolio (PPM) systems.
  • Supporting adoption of our PPM systems.
  • Development, support and continual improvement of PPM reporting.
  • Data analysis and presentation.
  • Assurance of project, programme and portfolio delivery.
  • Maintenance and development of guidance, standards, and methodologies.
  • Facilitation of workshops such as benefits mapping, project planning, and lessons learned.
  • Participation in other forums and events, for example project community meetings and training sessions.
  • Supporting adoption of agreed scaled standards for project and programme delivery.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience of working as part of a project, programme, and/or portfolio management office.
  • Experience of managing project, programme and portfolio (PPM) systems, including developing reports to support management decisions.
  • A confident, enthusiastic, and positive approach, with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of project support.
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management, attention to detail and accuracy, including experience of working effectively to demanding deadlines, prioritising own workload with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible and diplomatic with good negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Experience of undertaking assurance reviews of projects, programmes, and/or portfolios.
  • A good understanding of IT project and programme life cycles, methodologies, and approaches.
  • Experience of reporting and of providing metrics and other control information to project management and senior management.
