The University of Manchester has a vacancy for a Research Assistant (Mixed Methods) to play a vital role on a Youth Endowment Fund funded project. The primary objective of the study is to understand if New Chapters an arts-based creative writing intervention (delivered by the National Literacy Trust) can improve behavioural outcomes for young people in prison (Chief Investigator: Dr Charlotte Lennox). The researcher will join an exciting research team on the New Chapters study.
We are seeking an innovative, motivated and capable individual interested in the advancement of arts-based intervention for young people. Skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods and analysis are essential as will be the personal qualities of resilience, accuracy and flexibility. Experience of undertaking research with young people / criminal justice will be an advantage, with experience in trials, implementation or process evaluation particularly desirable.
The post holder will be based at the University of Manchester but will spend significant periods in prisons across England and so independent means of travel is essential. The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS.
