Assistant Professor in Politics and/or International Relations

Forward College – Paris Campus

Contract: full time, permanent (2 year tenure track)

This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious academic to join Forward College, a new, innovative and pan-European university based in Paris, Berlin and Lisbon. We’re looking for an Assistant Professor in Politics and/or International Relations for our Paris Campus to:

  • Teach our second-year students registered for our BSc in Politics and International Relations and our BSc in Economics & Politics (both in partnership with the London School of Economics) and our interdisciplinary Bachelor’s in Social Sciences and Technology.
  • Develop impact oriented research
  • Build collaborations within the College and beyond.

Forward College We are committed to advancing knowledge and promoting excellence in teaching, research and impact.

Our approach reflects this commitment:

  • We attract bright and motivated students who wish to achieve academic excellence
  • We provide 100% small group tuition for passionate teachers to make an impact and develop close interactions with their students.
  • We employ a ‘flipped classroom’ approach, with teaching and tutoring accounting for around 40% of your week during term time.
  • Approximately 30% of your time will be dedicated to research, pedagogical development or other career development activities mainly outside teaching terms.
  • Our students embark on a multi-city programme as part of their studies (‘3 years – 3 cities’), spending a year each in Lisbon, Paris, and Berlin.

Beyond academic excellence, the College also nurtures other forms of intelligence: social intelligence to engage people across different fields of expertise and backgrounds; emotional intelligence to manage one’s balance, be mindful of others, and nurture creativity; and practical intelligence to implement projects effectively, harness technology, and deliver lasting change.

Who we are looking for:

As a candidate, we expect you to have:

  • A PhD in Politics, International Relations, or a closely related discipline from a top-tier University
  • A passion for teaching, learning and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students
  • A solid track record in research with an appetite for connecting subject-specific expertise to real-world problems and/or interdisciplinary approaches
  • Good interpersonal skills, team spirit and intercultural sensitivity
  • An excellent level of English

As an Assistant Professor on our Paris Campus you will support students’ ambitions and achievements in their BSc programmes. More specifically, at the start of your career at Forward College, you will have an ability to teach a minimum of two of the following courses:

Our Fellows are responsible for designing and formative assessments throughout the year, and will provide one-to-one feedback to their students to ensure optimal preparation for exam and other assessments.

From September 2025, Forward College will offer its own Bachelor’s programme within an interdisciplinary framework including PIR, which will offer further opportunities to develop new approaches.
