About Us: Lady Margaret Hall (LMH) is a constituent College of the University of Oxford, situated in expansive gardens beside the University Parks. The College was founded in 1878 with a dual passion for learning and for equality, making it possible for the first time for women to study at Oxford. Today, the College continues to draw inspiration from this great pioneering vision. It is now a co-educational academic community of 400 undergraduate and more than 200 postgraduate students. LMH has a thriving commercial business, as a conference and events venue and provider of high quality short academic programmes. Our beautiful setting and distinctive facilities make us the ideal location for a wide range of events, from day meetings and residential conferences to banquets and weddings. During the summer, the College is busy with summer schools and the ‘LMH Summer Programmes’ – a series of engaging courses taught by experienced academics using the tutorial system, a cornerstone of the University of Oxford’s educational approach.

The Role: We are seeking a dedicated Commercial Operations Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Set the vision for the non-academic aspects of the LMH Summer Programmes: Create a comprehensive programme of activities that ensures an exceptional student experience.
  • Manage operations for the LMH Summer Programmes: Organise and deliver all non-academic elements, including accommodation and catering, airport transfers, social and cultural activities and the online platform.
  • Recruit and Manage Seasonal Staff: Build and lead a team of enthusiastic seasonal staff to support students throughout their course.
  • Lead the Conference Team: Establish the strategy and objectives for the Conference team, and manage delivery of commercial conferences and events to meet targets.
  • Collaborate with Other Teams: Work closely with other teams to set standards and develop the College’s hospitality offering.

About You: This role is perfect for a motivated leader with a passion for customer service and a collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an enthusiastic team leader who inspires and motivates.
  • Be results-oriented, with a proven track record in managing successful events or summer courses.
  • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Possess strong organisational and planning abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Thrive on challenges and be excited about contributing to a growing business within a friendly and supportive college community.

Why Join Us? You'll be part of a supportive, welcoming team dedicated to delivering excellent service and creating memorable experiences for our guests and summer students. LMH offers a friendly and varied work environment, along with a range of benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, membership of the College’s pension scheme, free lunches and interest-free travel ticket loans. As an 'Investors in People' employer, LMH is proud to be the only college in Oxford to have achieved a gold award.

Application Process: Interested candidates should submit their resume and cover letter detailing their relevant experience and why they are excited about this opportunity at LMH. Candidates should be educated to degree level. Candidates must be able to attend some events during evenings and weekends, for which time off in lieu will be granted. For further details click 'Apply' above.

The closing date is 12 noon on 15th July 2024. First interviews will be held on 22nd and 23rd July 2024.
