This position is initially for a 30 month fixed term contract, employed by Teesside University but working at company partner premises day to day. The appointed candidate will have access to a dedicated training budget tailored towards their personal development, access to industry leading technology and supervision from a leading academic research team from Teesside University.
The company partner, Binding Solutions Ltd‘s core business model is the development of technologies which contribute to the decarbonisation of the metals and mining industry, achieved to date by the development of an environmentally sustainable, patented process for converting primary iron ore into high value pellet products for blast furnace feedstock within steel production. This KTP examines the effectiveness of the current palletisation process towards direct reduction (DRI) by hydrogen, by a combination of temperature programmed reduction techniques, and materials characterisation, with the ultimate aim of refining the palletisation technology and making the process optimal for large scale commercial DRI operations.
