Annual Leave: 30 days (pro rata) plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Main duties and responsibilities
The Communications Officer will have a broad portfolio of deliverables, drawing on a range of skills and experience.
The purpose of the role is to support staff and student user experience relating to Library and Computing Services systems and services, to promote the work of the department internally and externally, and to support senior management in the communication of strategic and operational information.
Responsibilities will include the creation and management of internal and external communications for the department, project and change communications, and support for strategic and operational communications including data collation and communications, such as National Student Survey results for the department and departmental service usage statistics.
The Communications Officer will also proactively support the delivery of department and University wide events and actively engage with stakeholders across the institution.
Skills and experience required
The successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of high quality and appropriate communications to a range of audiences across a variety of channels. They will have proven experience of planning and managing communications and effective engagement with stakeholders alongside excellent relationship management and customer service skills, and an awareness of the importance of institutional relationships.
They will have a high standard of written and verbal communication, and an ability to engage with colleagues to ‘translate’ technical information into user-friendly copy.
They will have a high level of numeracy, excellent Microsoft 365 skills, the ability to analyse and present statistical data to a range of audiences, and an ability to create and maintain website copy (training will be provided for specific platforms).
The successful candidate will be highly organised and able to plan and prioritise their own workload with minimum of supervision.
They will demonstrate a commitment to University’s values and to ensuring communications comply with accessibility and diversity guidelines and to work within all legal and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will demonstrate resilience and a positive attitude towards change, problem solving, self-development, and team working.
Qualifications required
The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a Degree or equivalent level qualification, or proven professional work experience.
