The candidate will most likely have experience in some of the following areas:

  • Optical waveguide device characterisation including propagation losses, mode profiling and grating coupling characterisation.
  • Optical waveguide design and simulation including finite difference time domain, beam propagation and eigenmode solving.
  • Working with foundry services to optimise fabrication of devices including an appreciation of e-beam lithography requirements and limitations.
  • Cleanroom fabrication experience including lithography and etching.
  • Experience with thin-film on-insulator platforms such as silicon or silicon nitride photonics.
  • Heterogeneous integration and transfer printing.

We hope for candidates who are sociable and professional, have strong oral and written communication skills and experience of applied R&D in an industrial or academic environment.

Fraunhofer CAP offers a competitive salary and very attractive University-like conditions, including generous holidays, pension provision, maternity leave, nursery access etc. Salary will be commensurate with the levels of appointment.
