The senior Laboratory Manager post offers an exciting opportunity for someone to play a key role within the Laboratory Operations Team in a highly successful and dynamic research and teaching Institute, as well as benefitting from the opportunities afforded by being part of the larger financial and administrative community of the Faculty of Brain Sciences, School of Life and Medical Sciences and University College London (UCL).
About the role
The Senior Laboratory Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day support and maintenance of research active laboratories within the Institute of Ophthalmology (IoO). The postholder will support such activities as the purchasing of laboratory consumables, coordinating the servicing of equipment, carrying out safety inductions and promoting good health and safety practices throughout the Institute. The Senior Laboratory Manager will also deputise for the Laboratory Operations Manager as required and directly line manage the Laboratory Operations Assistant.
The post is open ended and will be required to work full time on site.
About you
The postholder will have a background in life sciences and a good understanding of the necessary groundwork required in managing the day-to-day support and maintenance of research-active laboratories. The successful candidate will have experience working independently and managing priorities whilst also being an active member of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to the effective operation of the team.
