The University of Edinburgh is looking for a part-time Research Data Support Assistant to provide research data management support to staff and students. This exciting role would suit an individual with experience of working with research data who is enthusiastic about open research.

This post is part-time (24.5 hours per week) and has a hybrid working pattern (remote and on-campus). We are open to various working days and hours, including staggered start/finish times.

What the job involves:

  • Review and assist researchers with data submissions to the data repositories according to policy and procedures
  • Provide direct support to staff and research students in all aspects of good research data management
  • Contribute to research data management and open research training through online courses, scheduled workshops, outreach events
  • Write user documentation, accessible web pages and publicity for the service 

A bit about you:

  • You will bring experience of working in a research, library or IT environment to this support role with a focus on research data and curation.
  • You will be familiar with the stages of research data management and what good practice in open research means in a variety of disciplines.
  • You will be an excellent communicator with a customer orientation and team working ability.
