The Role

The University of London Careers Service is recruiting a Careers Consultant to work with students and graduates from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) on a permanent contract for 2 days a week/0.4 FTE.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team working with an interesting and varied student group. As a Careers Consultant, you will help students and graduates to acquire the skills necessary to choose their future path, find employment, and manage their careers successfully. You will achieve this by providing high quality, client-centred careers and employability support through a combination of one-to-one guidance, workshops and events, and other employability-related activities. These will be delivered both remotely and in-person, all tailored to the bespoke needs of students on the specialised programmes at the RVC. A key part of this role will be for you to build strategic relationships with academic staff, alumni, student representatives, employers and other key stakeholders to design and deliver the best possible employability support. You will also help develop online resources and learning materials.

The RVC Career Consultant is an integral part of the University of London Careers Service and share best practice and support with the other Small and Specialist Colleges within the University, as well as the team supporting the University of London’s distance and flexible learners. The University of London Careers Service is part of The Careers Group, so team members also collaborate with colleagues from across The Careers Group on activities that enhance the quality and effectiveness of our services.

The RVC operates a hybrid working model where staff are expected to be on campus for 40% of their working week (pro rata for part time staff). For an informal chat about the role please contact Oby Oputa, Associate Director, University of London Careers Service, Small Specialist Colleges on obieze.oputa@@careers.lon.ac.uk

To be considered for this opportunity, please submit your application by clicking ‘Apply’ at the top of this page before the closing date at 11.55pm on Wednesday 3rd of July 2024.

Interviews and assessment activities will take place on 16th and 17th of July 2024 (you will only be required to attend on one of these days) and take place virtually, via MS Teams.
