Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 12th June 2024

Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Applied Sciences is committed to providing an environment that recognises and supports research excellence. As part of the Social Sciences Subject Group, ENU co-hosts EU-funded research project: ‘RESIST. Fostering Queer Feminist Intersectional Resistances against Transnational Anti-Gender Politics’

Currently, we have an opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow to join the project and support the team in generating new ideas and solutions, and to inform policy making, aimed at benefiting those subjected to intersecting discriminations, and public at large.

The Role:

As Senior Research Fellow you will have the opportunity to join Dr Roberto Kulpa, Prof. Kath Browne and the RESIST team to work on the delivery of the impact plan in the RESIST Project, while also supporting Dr Kulpa on the Polish case study, if your expertise is in this area.

The role will give you the chance to work with the RESIST team to inspire and work towards social change to ameliorate the lives of those affected by ‘anti-gender’ politics across Europe, including in Poland, Greece, Spain, Belarus, Germany, France, Ireland, Switzerland.

The post will also see you using and developing your expertise to support the team in harnessing the impact of their research in local context and transnationally, supporting the delivery of impact activities and outputs from academic research into public domains.

Furthermore, you will be in a position to use your excellent communication skills to support the team in developing relations with our partners on documentary film and advocacy activities, as well as support the design of the online training module in creating a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) based on the RESIST findings.

Part of your duties may also involve supporting the Polish case study, which will give you remit to bring your familiarity with Polish society and culture, and interests in research concerning (broadly defined) queer, feminist, LGBT, gender, intersectional, and anti-racist politics to bear on existing data.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with an international team of queer-feminist researchers, within the EU-funded research consortium, which will also see you travelling abroad and presenting at international conferences as appropriate to RESIST dissemination.

What we will need from you:

  • A PhD in social sciences, humanities or impact related (interdisciplinary and broadly defined) (near completions may be accepted if submitted by October 2024)
  • Experience of social change through ‘knowledge exchange’, ‘public engagement’, and dissemination of findings to non-academic communities
  • Queer-feminist and trans-inclusive ethos of work, and resonance with other values of the RESIST Project.
  • Competent communication skills
  • Ability to travel abroad for work duties.
