The Opportunity

The Faculty of Education at Monash University is seeking a renowned Professor to lead and foster excellence in research, teaching, and professional activities in the domain of educational inequalities, with a particular emphasis on gender and/or ‘race’ and ethnicity. This Level E academic position demands a special responsibility in shaping policy development and academic excellence within the department, the University, and the broader scholarly and general community. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of the School’s mission, driving innovative research and fostering new research collaborations that align with the Faculty’s strategic goals.

As a key academic leader, the appointed Professor will take a significant role in enhancing the School’s research output by maintaining a substantial publication record, securing competitive research grants, and mentoring early career researchers and students. Furthermore, the Professor will contribute to the School’s core teaching areas, including Assessment, Pedagogical Theory and Practice, Indigenous Education, and Arts and Creative Education. This position provides a unique opportunity to influence and develop the Faculty’s curriculum and research training programs, thereby shaping the future of educational research and practice.

You are an internationally recognized scholar with a robust track record in theoretically informed research on educational inequalities. Your expertise in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed research methods is unparalleled, and you have a proven ability to build and nurture research collaborations both within and outside your institution.

Your dedication to academic leadership extends to teaching, curriculum development, and research training. You excel in providing strategic direction and innovation in curriculum planning, and you are committed to enhancing the quality of teaching within your discipline. Your ability to attract high-calibre HDR students and foster their academic growth is a testament to your mentorship and guidance.
