The Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division are looking to recruit a full-time Graduate Funding Officer, who will manage graduate funding processes within the Division. The post will provide an opportunity to gain substantial experience in the management of graduate studentships (especially UKRI research council awards), take responsibility for discrete areas of work, and give the postholder an insight into the decision making processes within the University.
The Graduate Funding Officer will be a member of the division’s Graduate School team reporting to the Head of Graduate Policy and Administration and working closely with the Graduate Studies Manager. The postholder’s primary responsibility will be management of the EPSRC Doctoral Landscape Awards (formerly DTP and iCASE grants) and University scholarships managed by the MPLS division. The postholder will be a source of expertise for academic and professional services colleagues in MPLS departments on the proper management of scholarships and studentships funded by the science Research Councils, industry and other external bodies. Periodically the division also supports a number of competitive bids for graduate studentships, with the postholder playing a key role in supporting these bids under the direction of the Head of Graduate Policy and Administration, including by provision and analysis of relevant data.
The postholder will require excellent quantitative, analytical and Excel skills; understanding of the importance of and the ability to apply policies and procedures in a higher education or similar setting; the ability to comprehend, apply and explain rules an regulations; and the interpersonal skills to support, liaise with and advise academic and professional services colleagues from a range of backgrounds.
