Teaching Fellow in Engineering and Sustainability

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast is seeking to appoint a fixed term Teaching Fellow in Engineering, Environment and Sustainability (Maternity Cover).

With a strong background in Engineering and Sustainability, our ideal candidate will be passionate about delivery of world class education and an exceptional student experience. The successful candidate will help shape our future undergraduate and postgraduate curriculums across our undergraduate and postgraduate Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering programmes, as well as contribute to development of new interdisciplinary teaching activities across the breadth of the University portfolio within their area of competence.

The post holder will also contribute to wider School and University administration and outreach activities.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

• An Honours Degree or Equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Business, Economics or closely related subject.
• Hold, or be in the process of completing, a PhD in a relevant area.
• Demonstrable experience of teaching in a higher education setting.
• Breadth and depth of relevant specialist knowledge to teach at undergraduate and or/postgraduate levels across the School UG/PGT provision, aligned with your own area of specialism. Relevant experience would include (but is not limited to) design for sustainability, energy systems analysis, decarbonisation, net zero engineering, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, dynamic systems or a closely related field.

This post is fixed term until 31/12/2025. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
