About the role

The Department of Psychology is recruiting an International Student Support Educator to deliver support to its international student cohort to develop and improve the necessary academic skills required for their postgraduate or undergraduate programme. This role has a specific focus on (but is not limited to) supporting international students on the MSc Applied Clinical Psychology programme.

In this role you will:

  • work closely with the Director of Teaching, programme Directors of Studies, Unit Convenors, and other colleagues in the Department to identify the main academic issues facing international students. 
  • plan, create and deliver relevant academic skills sessions and teaching units tailored for and delivered to international students, specifically (but not limited to) students studying on the MSc Applied Clinical Psychology programme.
  • deliver a professional and pro-active support service to ensure that all international students in the department not only have the opportunity to succeed in their studies but to fully participate in the broader student experience and adapt to life at the University. This will involve working closely with the relevant academic and professional services teams within the department and wider University. 

This role will also involve some project management, event management, the co-ordination of student communications and the provision of student advice to effectively support the international student cohort within the department.

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis. 

About you 

  • You will have proven experience creating and delivering academic skills sessions to international postgraduate and undergraduate students.
  • You are committed to high quality teaching and ensuring an inclusive learning environment. 
  • You have excellent communication skills and proven experience in effective liaison with a range of stakeholders to ensure the delivery of a professional and pro-active international student support service.
