The Role
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Associate on utilising high-performance computing for hybrid Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes-Large Eddy Simulations of turbulent premixed flame-wall interaction. You will join a research group working on cutting-edge research on turbulent reacting flows utilising the advancements of high-performance computing. The project is funded by the Engineering Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and working towards the development and implementation of high-fidelity models for turbulent premixed flame-wall interaction within turbulent boundary layers.
Our research group has cutting-edge expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics and multiphase turbulent flows based in the School of Engineering. The primary project teams are based at Newcastle University and the University of Edinburgh. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with industrial partners and the extended project teams.
The role holder will join a group which is working on cutting-edge research on turbulent reacting flows utilising the advancements of high-performance computing. The role holder will join an Engineering Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded project and work towards the development and implementation of high-fidelity models for turbulent premixed flame-wall interaction within turbulent boundary layers. The role holder will have opportunities to collaborate with industrial partners and the extended project team based at both Newcastle University and the University of Edinburgh.
To succeed in this role, you will need to present research outcomes at international conferences and interact with industry colleagues. Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to network and influence, are essential.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position available immediately until 23rd May 2025, with the possibility of a 6-month extension.
