About The Role

We are seeking to recruit a Library Content & Discovery Manager. This is a unique opportunity to further your career, leading the development of library collections and systems, working for both a successful creative arts University and a Russell Group University. We are a friendly and forward-thinking team who are driven to provide excellent customer service to students and staff. The Library & Archives team are involved in all aspects of learning, teaching and research, so in this role you will be collaborating with multiple teams across the partnership to deliver our 2030 vision. 

You will be responsible for managing the acquisition and development of library collections and the technical infrastructure to access library resources including discovery, metadata and reading lists. You will manage the associated budgets; and collate and analyse data to inform future library strategy.

About You

We are seeking someone with a very good understanding of trends and developments in academic libraries, scholarly publishing and digital transformation. You will have experience of managing library content acquisition and library systems and a track record in innovative problem solving.  You will be able to demonstrate an ability to interpret financial and statistical information; to use this evidence to inform decisions, and to communicate this in an engaging way to multiple audiences. 

The ideal candidate would have the following skills/experience: 

  • Coaching approach to motivating and developing your team
  • Ability to negotiate successfully with suppliers to achieve positive outcomes
  • Collaboration with multiple stakeholders in an inclusive way
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and library systems
  • Passion for improving the customer experience 

This senior post is offered on a 37.5 hour a week, full time, permanent contract working across Monday-Friday.
