About Us
The BCNO Group brings together two well-renowned osteopathic educational institutions – the European School of Osteopathy and the British College of Osteopathic Medicine.
We provide two osteopathic degree programmes – an M.Ost and BSc – to approximately 200 students.
The Role
This is a new role to BCNO, hence we are looking at hiring on an initial 12 month fixed term contract, which will allow suitable time for all to assess the success of the role.
The Deputy Principal will work closely with the Principal in developing and implementing BCNO’s academic strategy and operational plans and policies; as well as identifying and developing new academic opportunities in the UK and internationally.
In particular, the Deputy Principal will play a pivotal role on academic operational and management matters ensuring teaching excellence, successful learning and achievement of full potential of all students.
The Deputy Principal will champion the philosophy of BCNO, acting as an ambassador to enhance its reputation at home and abroad through the promotion of good practice in education and osteopathy ensuring that such practice is promulgated throughout the institution.
About You
Educated to MSc or PhD level, you will have demonstrable significant experience of working in a senior management position within higher education. Your approach will be collaborative but also, you will be able to work autonomously and make sensible, well thought-out decisions when you need to. Experience of line managing people will be important as you will be responsible for managing two Programme Leads and two Heads of Clinic.
You will be personable and engaging, adept at developing people while also able to raise teaching standards and delivery as required. A good understanding of the quality processes within higher education would be very desirable, as would experience of course development.
