An exciting development / training opportunity for those pursuing a career in professional staff services. Reporting directly to the Institute Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Institute’s Finance and Research Facilitation teams, whilst developing a broad knowledge of all aspects of administration in a research setting.
This varied role combines strategic and operational duties and will require an innovative approach to embracing new ideas, which enhance the efficient management of the Institute. You will be a key member of the Institute’s core administration and must be confident in managing a wide range of issues to ensure workloads are prioritised. You will need to exercise a high degree of initiative as you will regularly handle complex matters, which require you to liaise with colleagues across the wider University, grant awarding bodies and external suppliers.
You will be educated to degree level, or equivalent relevant work experience. Experience of working in a finance role (including the preparation and analysis of financial reports, budgets and forecasts, understanding of financial controls and audit procedures) is essential. You will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective and co-operative working relationships with colleagues at all levels. A working knowledge of the scientific research landscape and the major funding bodies is desirable.
This is a full time, permanent position. Hybrid working arrangements are available.
