The Materials Innovation Factory (MIF) is accelerating the discovery of new functional materials through the development of pioneering digital laboratory spaces. Over £15M of state-of-the-art research equipment housed within shared access laboratories is made available to our academic and industrial client base, where robotic technologies and laboratory automation increase speed and throughput of experimentation, and improve reliability and reproducibility of data.
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Application Technologist to provide strategic technology leadership for the area of Laboratory Automation, with responsibility for the development, application, and utilisation of these platforms within the shared MIF laboratories. You will play a key role in the implementation of digital solutions for the deployment of automation and robotic technologies for scientific research and discovery.
We seek an individual with expertise and extensive experience in the design, development and practical utilisation of automation and robotics in a laboratory setting, including data management and digital laboratory solutions, with a successful track record of identifying and implementing technical solutions. The role will interface with a wide range of stakeholders and customers, so you will be an excellent communicator, with experience of developing strong professional relationships at all levels.
You should have a PhD or equivalent technical qualification and training gained from within an industrial setting, within a relevant technical field, e.g. engineering, robotics, chemistry, materials science.
