The Unit plays a key role in delivering growth in existing markets and establishing the University in new markets, including apprenticeships.

The role 

The post holder will be a key member of the Apprenticeship Products Team, reporting to the Head of Apprenticeships Product Launch and Maintenance. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior manager. The role will require a collaborative and creative mindset to support the team in realising the ambitions of the OU Apprenticeship Strategy to achieve supported and lasting change in the way the OU approached apprenticeship product governance, development, launch and maintenance. 

The post holder will be required to demonstrate autonomy, initiative and resourcefulness in carrying out the role, acting as a key point of contact in working collaboratively across the University and with external organisations as required to support aspects of the apprenticeship product related internal and external communication content production with strong attention to detail by gathering and analysing relevant information and data, consulting with stakeholders at all levels and delivering a high-quality output that meets the operational and regulatory requirements of Apprenticeship provision.

Skills and experience

Do you have:

  • Excellent communication skills and experience of designing, creating and delivering impactful communications and engagement plans and information asset content in large organisations? E.g. internal and external marketing/sales collateral, product information and briefing etc.
  • Knowledge of OU operations, regulations and governance structures, including Stage Gate, curriculum approval, design, production, delivery and maintenance?
  • Experience of application and interpretation of University and external policy and procedures and a proven track record of designing and implementing new processes, with a focus on improving efficiency for internal staff and students/apprentices.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills working with internal and external stakeholders with the ability to positively challenge, present convincing arguments and negotiate effectively to agree successful outcomes?
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven experience of working on and delivering cross-institutional projects with a track record of delivering to agreed timescales and briefs, working both as part of a team and on your own initiative?
  • A strong awareness of the wider HE apprenticeships landscape including rules, regulations, policy and compliance.
