About the Role
The role holder will participate in research-based projects under the direction of the Reader in Cancer Biomarker and Epigenetics. Current research activities include viral (Human Papillomavirus, HPV) and human DNA methylation testing, HPV testing, as well as biomarker discovery and validation for cancer prevention through next generation sequencing (NGS). The post holder will provide technical support for research projects as directed by the Principal Investigator and work independently on projects as needed.
About You
As a valued member of the team, the successful candidate will be expected to have a Bachelor or Masters in biological science (or equivalent) and experience working in a molecular biology lab. Excellent knowledge of legislation and good practice with respect to Clinical Governance, Good Clinical Practice and Research Ethics is essential. Applicants should be highly organised and self-motivated, have a track-record of successful team working and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience of library preparation for NGS and handling biological samples is desirable.

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to 450 staff, 100 PhD students and c500 postgraduate taught students. It harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine. The Institute is organised into six separate research centres which, though complementary and following the Institute strategic plan, also have Centre-specific objectives and requirements.
