The Career Launch postdoctoral fellowships aim to bridge the challenging transition from PhD to externally funded postdoctoral fellowships or equivalent. They are aimed at promising applicants who have completed a PhD but are not yet in an open-ended research role and have not yet been awarded a major funded postdoctoral fellowship (such as those offered by the British Academy or the Leverhulme Trust).
These specific fellowships in European languages will support two researchers who have been awarded PhDs at the University of Edinburgh to develop broad research visions in fields of relevance to the work of DELC over the course of a year.
Successful candidates will have obtained a PhD at the University of Edinburgh in the past eight years (excluding any career breaks) in a relevant field and show evidence that they are on course to produce innovative research outputs during the course of the fellowship. For these fellowships in European languages, we would expect candidates at least to have passed their viva successfully by the closing date for applications.
This advertisement is open to applicants with a research background of relevance to any of the six sections within DELC (interdisciplinary profiles covering multiple languages/sections are also welcome):
