Role Purpose:

To support the marketing department and USSU's internal stakeholders in creating content for both online and offline campaigns, conveying complex messages effectively to a variety of audiences.

Delivery

  • With support from the Head of Marketing & Communications, coordinate and deliver successful marketing, increasing member engagement with the Students' Union.
  • Ensure that our marketing and communications are inclusive and accessible to our diverse student membership.
  • Lead on the creation of professionally produced, innovative, and engaging media content, including video and photography, for use across digital marketing campaigns throughout the year.
  • Create and edit graphic design for USSU in-line with our brand strategy.
  • Assist the Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator in videography produce and editing projects.
  • Be the creative lead in various aspects of marketing campaign visuals, branding, and design work.
  • Maintain a consistent 'look and feel' across our communications channels and content that is both engaging and relevant to our audience.
  • To contribute to the overall brand strategy and achievement of related individual and team KPIs in line with USSU's strategic objectives. 

Stakeholders

  • Support and offer guidance to other departments and colleagues on best practice in content production and in the correct and effective use of our brand and tone of voice.
  • To engage, inspire and manage connections with student communities online and face-to-face, supporting Sabbatical Officers and student leaders to network and build social connections within the Union.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues throughout the Union, University and other partners.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues at other students’ unions to share best practice.
  • Assist with the promotion of the Students' Union's work throughout the University and to external organisations. 

Other

  • Ensure compliance with the Union’s policies, University policies and all relevant legislation – including Health and Safety, 1992 Education Act and Data Protection.
  • Help our Full Time Officers achieve their manifesto commitments.
  • Actively engage in student-facing projects and activities of all kinds as required.
  • Be an enthusiastic advocate for student leadership and the organisation’s values.
  • Maintain your own professional networks and promote the Union on a local and national level. 

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro and Adobe Illustrator
  • Able to apply innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Able to work in and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Familiar with and able to use a variety of digital collaboration and creation tools and automation platforms, and/or willing to learn.
  • Able to work collaboratively with others, both as part of a team and across different functions.
  • Able to establish strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally, including students, senior management, funders and community organisations.
  • Ability to use photography and videography equipment.
  • Knowledge of and/or an appreciation of the issues currently impacting students in Higher Education.
  • Experience of creating content for a wide audience base of various ages, genders, ethnicities, interests and backgrounds.
  • A strong commitment to championing equality, diversity and inclusion.
