The Role
We are proud to offer an opportunity for Business Administration Apprentice to join our Finance Team.

You will develop highly transferable experience, knowledge, skills and that can be applied in other work environments in a variety of employers. These skills will ensure you have a solid understanding of business basics which will build you a foundation for a successful career. Alongside this, you will have the practical experience of working in a large and multidisciplinary educational organisation. We will work with everyone to identify suitable roles beyond their apprenticeship.

The apprenticeship positions will be for a period of 18-24 months from your start date and include a period of 3 months at the end where we will work with you on your final assessment.

We are looking for people who can develop, implement and maintain administration services to support a diverse team of finance colleagues. You will have many opportunities to develop your team working skills and learn quicky from experienced colleagues who will be there to help and support you.

About you
As part of the requirements for being able to access apprenticeship funding, you will need to have eligible residency status and the right to work in England. You should be able to start your apprenticeship after the last Friday in June of the academic year in which you have your 16th birthday or thereafter.

It is preferred that you have 5 GCSEs at Grade C or Level 4 and above (or the equivalent outside of the UK), including Maths and English. Although, we have opportunities to support you with achieving this standard if you have not.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate good communication, organisation and team working skills from any part of your life experience to date.

Please reach out to us by contacting Paige Patterson at Paige.Patterson@newcastle.ac.uk if you have any questions.

What’s in it for you?
During your apprenticeship with us, you will be supported by an in-house Apprenticeship Skills Coach who will meet with you monthly to carry out observations and help you collate evidence that will be used for your final assessment. They will also lead on providing you with learning and development opportunities, events, workshops, and projects to work on during the course of your normal working week with us, that will ultimately support you in achieving your Level 3 in Business Administration.

  • You will also be assigned a mentor and manager in your host department, who will help you embed your learning into day-to-day life in the role. They will give you the space to be able to practice and learn new skills in real life situations.
  • We can also provide you with a Functional Skills Tutor if you do not have level 4/Grade C and above in Maths and English.
  • We will also support you with workshops to support you in applying for permanent positions within the university and we hope this will be the start of your long-term career journey with us.
  • We have over 6,000 colleagues and opportunities for you to move into more specialised positions and access further learning.
