It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, where the successful candidate can work from home and the office. However, as this role is contractually aligned to our Milton Keynes office it is expected that some attendance in the office will be required when necessary and in response to business needs.

Digital Services are responsible for the digital information, systems and technologies used by staff and students across The Open University. Covering all aspects of digital technology at the OU, from sourcing and maintaining systems, through to providing frontline IT support for staff and students. 

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Product Manager to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, which will be based within Digital Services.

The initial focus of this role will be to support the Student Services Portfolio whose ambition it is to ensure services and products are highly customer-centric and designed with the user (whether student or colleague) in mind ensuring best possible outcomes. These roles all require experience of working with agile methodology, of leading, coaching and bringing out the best in your people.

We are looking for those who enjoy collaborating with a team and have experience of working on the full lifecycle of products, from ideation to development, from delivery to operation and ongoing improvement with a view to making the user experience a positive one.   

Skills and experience

This role will suit you if you:

  • Are an experienced practitioner in product management across end-to-end services, preferably with customer-focused digital products.
  • Possess experience of engaging with users and using qualitative and quantitative data to identify how their needs can be met by products and services.
  • Have excellent stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and experience of Agile methodology and adapting techniques as necessary to achieve the desired outcomes.
