We are recruiting a Clinical Tutor to support the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) programme at the University.

Clinical tutors play a crucial role in supporting the development of clinical psychology trainees across the three years of the programme through planning and monitoring clinical placements, providing advice and support to trainees and supervisors.

The role involves building relationships with trainees and supervisors across the full range of clinical service within a specified part of our placement area which covers South Devon, Plymouth & Cornwall.

Contribution to other aspects of programme delivery will also include teaching, assessment, and research supervision. There may also be opportunities to contribute to teaching and research within the broader school.

A significant proportion of the role can be undertaken through home working, and regular team meetings are held remotely. However, there is a requirement to undertake in-person placements visits within a defined placement area and to attend some in-person meetings and events.

The Plymouth Clinical Psychology programme has been providing high-quality clinical psychology training in the South-West for the past 40+ years and was the first programme to adopt a doctoral training model. The programme is committed to values-based practice; working with compassion, courage and creativity, in partnership with service users and communities to promote social inclusion, diversity, equality and health for all. The programme has longstanding strengths in systemic approaches and is currently working towards BABCP accreditation in CBT, we also have a flourishing programme of community psychology placements.

Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Psychology is one of the largest and best-resourced psychology departments in the UK. Covering all areas of psychology, the School shares its expertise and enthusiasm for psychology with over 800 students and offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, all accredited by the British Psychological Society. The Faculty also provides medical, dental, general, and mental health nursing, social work, and seven different allied health professions training.
