About the Role

Applications are invited for a fully funded position at the Research Associate level within the Centre for Advanced Robotics (ARQ), School of Engineering and Material Sciences at Queen Mary University of London. The project is funded by NERC, under the supervision of Dr. Ketao Zhang and Dr. Paul Balcombe. The project will investigate environmental monitoring approaches with multiple aerial robots.

The post holder will be responsible for research activities and the development of multi-agent aerial robotic systems, as well as working closely with project collaborators. You will perform research and development in aerial robotics, specialising in developing smart morphing structures and sensor integration of aerial robotic systems as well as developing appropriate control algorithms to navigate multiple aerial robots in dynamic environments.

About You

Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline for appointment at the Research Associate Level. Applicants must have a strong research track record in Robotics, Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, preferably with relevant experience in Aerial Robot testing and applications. Significant experience in robot design, modelling and control is required, a familiarity with multi-agent system modelling, flight electronics and onboard sensing. The successful candidate will also closely work with and supervise PhD and MSc students, and actively disseminate key research findings through publications.
