MLA College – Maritime, Sustainability, Engineering and Business Administration

MLA College provides technology enhanced, online and distance learning courses, chiefly in the sectors of maritime, sustainability, engineering and business administration. We are registered with the Office for Students and applying for our own degree-awarding powers. All of our current under and postgraduate degree programmes are validated by the University of Plymouth. The Opportunity - MLA College is expanding its team to develop new distance-learning programs aligned with its growth objectives. Emphasising employability, student engagement, and experience, we seek academic staff with professional practice and scholarly backgrounds. Preference is for candidates with experience in Maritime Engineering or Engineering Management, but all Engineering backgrounds are welcome. The position is based in Plymouth, UK, supporting both existing and new trans-national degree programs, with occasional international travel expected. This role will allow you to thrive by the sea and on land as Plymouth offers a winning combination. Stunning coastal views and endless opportunities to explore Dartmoor National Park or catch a show at the acclaimed Theatre Royal, Plymouth delivers a rich cultural scene, jaw-dropping scenery and a dynamic economy – all on your doorstep.

About You

You must be permanently eligible to work in the United Kingdom, we are unable to provide VISA sponsorship for this role.  

Qualifications and training:

  • First degree or equivalent in relevant subject area or extensive professional practice (essential)
  • PhD or high-level professional experience in relevant discipline (essential)
  • Relevant teaching qualification for higher education (desirable)

Experience and knowledge:

  • Broad or deep specialist knowledge in discipline to contribute to teaching programs (essential)
  • Understanding of equal opportunity issues in academic content and student needs (essential)
  • Contemporary knowledge of teaching methods for program design, development, delivery, and assessment (desirable)

Skills and abilities:

  • Ability to initiate, develop, and deliver high-quality ,engaging teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (essential)
  • Familiarity with various learning promotion and assessment strategies (essential)
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (essential)
  • Willingness to engage in continuous professional development (essential)
