About the Department:

The vision of the I&T Directorate is to build on SOAS’ global standing in a rapidly evolving digital world and help every member of SOAS to achieve the digital experience which meets their needs simply and efficiently. As part of our digital transformation there are a number of key projects to be delivered over the next five years making this a great opportunity to develop your career. The directorate comprises ~45 permanent staff organised into three distinct areas, IT Service Delivery, Enterprise Applications and Business Change & IT Governance. The Enterprise Applications team, where this role is positioned, provides support for the key business systems and is responsible for identity management, integrations, reporting platforms and Web. This role sits across these areas to steer the technology solutions used by the organisation.

About the Role

You will join a team of 3rd line application specialists to support a range of student facing applications; working closely with Service Desk and 2nd line colleagues to ensure the smooth provision of core application solutions to end users. Day-to-day you will handle support tickets, work with end users, and work on projects to implement new services or major change.

SOAS has a broad technical operating environment, the role holder will work with colleagues across I&T on areas such as:

  • application support and development
  • end user support via a service desk
  • specification of data integrations
  • testing application change
  • technical documentation

About you:

You will need to demonstrate:

  • relevant experience of supporting a wide variety of applications
  • experience supporting a student record system is highly desirable
  • experience of using MSSQL, Oracle or MySQL databases
  • customer service experience
  • problem solving skills
  • the ability to manage customer queries and handle service desk tickets
