The Scottish School of Primary Care (SSPC) is pleased to co-ordinate applications for 5 x 0.8 Whole Time Equivalents NHS Education Scotland GP Clinical Academic Fellowships. The posts are for 12 months, from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025. The posts provide flexible protected academic time in a University Department, combined with self-organised clinical work. The University Department may be in the Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow or St Andrews.
The posts are suitable for applicants who have recently completed their CCT training (within the preceding 3 years) or who are currently in the process of completing this or those who have just completed their PhD. Successful applicants will be expected to retain at least a minimal clinical commitment of 2 sessions per week combined with research under the supervision of a senior academic within the relevant University Department. Previous research experience is desirable, but not essential, as longer-term career development is a central aim of the post. This is an exciting opportunity to begin a career in academic primary care. Many previous applicants have gone on to PhD studies and published high quality research that is making a difference to primary care.
Applicants may indicate more than one of the participating universities as their preferred place of study but should state their order of preference for their academic placement. Applicants should also indicate their preference for the amount of academic time they require (0.4-0.8WTE).
This post is fixed term for 12 months, from 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025.
Early-career applicants may request from 0.4 FTE to 0.8 FTE.
