Research Associate/Senior Research Associate in Supply Chain Analysis

The role

You will be joining a collaborative project co-led by Minhao Zhang, Palie Smart and Nikolas Stylos, focusing on enhancing the resilience of semiconductor manufacturing supply chains. This role is part of the REWIRE Innovation and Knowledge Centre, supported by an £11 million UKRI grant, aimed at advancing the UK's net zero ambitions through semiconductor technology. As a Research Associate or Senior Research Associate, you will engage in advanced data analytics and governance model investigations to address global supply chain vulnerabilities and geopolitical risks. Additionally, you will collaborate with REWIRE industrial partners and closely interact with the engineering academic team to further our objectives.

What will you be doing?

Your key duties will include conducting thorough analyses of existing supply chain analytical tools, developing an analytical toolkit for decision-making, and identifying information gaps in semiconductor supply chains. You will collect, collate, and analyze complex data, contribute to high-quality academic publications, and engage with stakeholders to produce policy/practice briefings. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring a responsive, informed approach to supply chain challenges.

You should apply if

You possess a background in supply chain management and business analytics, with experience in empirical research in operations and supply chain management and/or the application of optimization and simulation approaches. Candidates should have a strong foundation in literature-based research, including policy analysis, and demonstrate proficiency in data analytics relevant to supply chains, preferably in the semiconductor sector. A postgraduate degree in a related field, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to interdisciplinary work and diversity are essential. Desirable qualifications include nearing the completion of a PhD in Operations and Supply Chain Management or a related field, experience with stakeholder engagement, and interdisciplinary project involvement.

Additional information

Salary: Grade I £37,099 - £41,732 or Grade J £41,732 - £46,974 per annum (depending on experience)
