About Derby Business School
The University of Derby is an ‘applied university of today and for tomorrow’, with a bold future focused outlook. Four pillars define our purpose: ‘moulding the next generation of game-changers; being a force for positive impact; opening doors for everyone; and leading the way in impact from industry engagement’. Delivery against these four pillars is influenced by our six academic themes: Biomedical and Clinical Science; Creative and Cultural Industries; Data Science; Business, Economic and Social Policy; Public Services; and Zero Carbon. Each of the four Colleges within the University plays their part in delivering against these themes.
As the anchor institution within Derbyshire, our role within the region, and beyond, is significant. We strive to be an influential and positive force for betterment by assuring that our impact is valuable to local, national, and international economies. Derby Business School plays a pivotal role in this activity, contributing a strong global community which embraces diversity of perspectives and diversity of thought.
The programmes within Derby Business School are ranked highly across various league tables which highlights our commitment to ensuring we are delivering an outstanding learner experience. Our Marketing, Events, Hospitality, and Tourism Management programmes are all ranked 3rd in the 2023 Guardian University League tables, Economics is in the Top 5 for student satisfaction according to the Complete University Guide 2024, whilst Marketing is number one for graduate prospects on track in the Complete University Guide 2024.
We are set to open the doors of our new iconic Derby Business School in the city centre during 2024/25. The state-of-the-art facilities will enhance our applied approach to learning, teaching, and research. Given this significant investment, the Derby Business School is continuing to expand across each subject area.
