This is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years, starting in September 2024

The Department of Methodology at LSE coordinates and provides a focus for methodological research and teaching, with a particular focus on the methodological development of postgraduate students. The department is methodologically and disciplinarily diverse, with faculty in sociology, anthropology, international relations, political science, statistics, economics, social psychology, social policy, and criminology.

We are seeking to appoint an individual with established research interests and teaching experience in advanced quantitative methods and computational social science. The successful candidate will contribute to the Department’s teaching activities through seminar teaching, methods surgeries, and dissertation/capstone supervision.

The successful candidate will join an internationally outstanding group of social science methodologists, be encouraged to collaborate with faculty on new and ongoing projects and supported to develop their own independent research agenda. The Department has an excellent record of supporting its Postdoctoral Fellows into tenure track positions at leading universities in the UK and internationally. Candidates should have completed or be near to completing their PhD by the time they take up the post.

Candidates should have:

  •  A developing record of outstanding publications
  • Ability to teach social science research methods to postgraduate students from diverse disciplines
  • Commitment to high quality teaching and course development
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
