Administrator (Yorkshire Policy Innovation Partnership - YPIP project)

University of Leeds - Economics Department

Location: Leeds
Salary: £25,742 to £29,605 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 30th April 2024
Closes: 17th May 2024
Job Ref: BUSEC1005

Post Type: Full Time

Contract Type: Fixed Term (December 2026)

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Do you have the ability to provide high level administrative support? Are you well organised and able to manage your own time whilst working flexibly and pro-actively? Do you have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships?

The administrator will support Yorkshire and Humber ‘Local Policy Innovation Partnerships’ (YPIP) Phase-2 programme. YPIP has two innovative features that provide an exciting challenge. First, it brings diverse policy stake-holders – the business, public, voluntary, and community sectors – together with university researchers who are dedicated to helping meet these stakeholders’ goals for a fairer, more sustainable economy and society. Second, YPIP will unfold at an expansive scale: it will encompass an entire region of the UK, Yorkshire and the Humber, that is larger than some independent nations; and it will include, as participants, representatives of all 12 universities in this region.

The YPIP project will unfold via one cross-cutting theme – communities in their places – and three distinct, multi-part work packages that will co-produce responses to urgent challenges of inclusive growth and sustainable living. The project will have a special focus on bringing members of socially and economically marginalized and spatially isolated communities into the policy equation. The project, which officially began on 1 January 2024, will terminate on 31 December 2026. You will work under the overall supervision of PI Professor Gary Dymski, and will be directly supervised by the YPIP project manager; you will have responsibility for coordinating project activities, planning events, and acting as a point of contact for external offices and individuals.  You will be a key member of staff that is creating a new model for university-region-community cooperation in linking these universities’ research impact ambitions with the need within the region for inclusive growth and sustainable living for all.

The role will be based in Leeds, but can be undertaken via hybrid working arrangements, subject to discussion with the line manager and agreement by the Head of Department. Excellent coordination skills and the ability to work to deadlines are essential – as is the ability to work as part of a team.
