Filmmakers use architecture to visually impart the intended mood, atmosphere, and context of the narrative. Architects employ the temporal and spatial fluidity of filmic representation to advance practical and imaginative design development. This research explores the diverse cultural expressions of temporality, domestic and/or civic space in both documentary and narrative films. The successful candidate will work with both film and architecture supervisors, be involved in organising research symposia on architecture and film and produce original research. This is an opportunity to undertake original, ground-breaking research work within a thriving creative arts environment. As a PhD candidate you will be part of a vibrant team within Leeds School of Arts, joining a growing research community with interests across creative arts practice.
