We have an exciting opportunity to join our Researcher Development Team and help deliver real structural and cultural change that will enhance the opportunities and experience for postgraduate researchers (PGRs) from racially minoritized backgrounds nationwide. You will work collaboratively with both academic and professional services colleagues from across the University and from our partner institutions to support Sheffield’s lead role in an important new strategic initiative, the Yorkshire Consortium for Equity in Doctoral Education (YCEDE). This project targets both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate research (PGR) students from racially minoritised backgrounds to close the gap in student success outcomes with a focus on progression to, and success in, postgraduate study. As part of YCEDE you will support Sheffield’s lead on enhancing the on-course PGR experience through our design and delivery of bespoke mentoring and events for PGRs.
The work will be diverse, involving communication and marketing of events, event organisation, liaising with event participants, monitoring of attendance and collecting feedback. You will also liaise with stakeholders from partner institutions, maintain relationships, report against project objectives and provide high quality administrative and clerical service.
You will be joining a team based in the Research, Partnership and Innovation department which offers support postgraduate research students and academic researchers from across the University. The Researcher Development team is committed to supporting researchers by enhancing their experience and contributing to their career development. The team has strength and depth in its skills and you can expect excellent support and continuing professional development. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with excellent communication and project administration experience. We require a committed team-worker, capable of working effectively across multiple partner institutions, committed to widening participation in UK Higher Education and who is driven to ensure project targets are met. We would welcome applications from staff who would like to take this up as a secondment opportunity, having sought agreement in principle from their line manager in advance.
