Instructor in Police Education (Kent)

Anglia Ruskin University - ARU Police Education

Location: Maidstone
Salary: £37,099 to £42,978
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 23rd April 2024
Closes: 8th May 2024
Job Ref: 556812

About the role:

ARU are delighted to be working with The Metropolitan Police and the Seven Police Forces in the Eastern Region – Essex, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk and Suffolk – to train the Police Officers of the future. We are offering the new Police Education Qualification Framework (PEQF) Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) developed by the College of Policing.

The PEQF aims to further professionalise policing as a career, by both recognising and raising educational standards, and ARU has been selected by the Seven Force Strategic Collaboration Programme to provide the educational training for two new entry routes into the profession.

New Police Constables will enrol on a three-year Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA), which combines a degree programme with on-the-job training, while a two-year Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) will be available for new recruits who already have a degree.

This post will be located at Police Force sites in Kent.

You will work with police trainer colleagues at these locations and, initially, you will be responsible for a single cohort of student police officers studying on the PCDA / DHEP.

Instructor - £37,099 - £42,978

Our Instructors will need the minimum of a degree or equivalent professional experience, and a demonstrable willingness to work towards a higher qualification. Experience of teaching in a higher education would be welcome. Please note that extensive knowledge of policing practice is essential if you do not have a degree.

Please note, background checks will be conducted on all applicants and will include successful clearance from the College of Policing barring list. Successful candidates will also require Non Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) level 2 (Full) clearance as you will have unsupervised access to police premises.

The ability to travel between police establishments and ARU campuses is required for roles within the ARU PEQF programmes.
