This is an exciting opportunity for a registered diagnostic radiographer to join the Department of Allied Health Professions, Sport and Exercise. We are seeking to appoint an innovative and experienced diagnostic radiographer as a Senior Lecturer to co-lead the development of our new pre-registration diagnostic radiography degrees and take on the role of Course Leader. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the future of the profession.

The Department currently offers a wide range of excellent educational provision across allied health professions, midwifery, public health and sport. It’s home to a large number of apprenticeships, pre-registration, undergraduate and postgraduate courses. From 2025, the Department will also offer courses in diagnostic radiography and dental hygiene/dental therapy which makes this a particularly exciting time to join the School.

The University of Huddersfield is a thriving university and our excellent facilities are expanding from September 2024 with state-of-the art teaching, research and clinical facilities on the National Health Innovation Campus. Diagnostic radiography will be core to these new facilities from 2025.

We have a diverse student body and professional partnerships with health and social care and education partners. Huddersfield is a lively town, close to beautiful countryside and with excellent road and rail links to Manchester, Leeds, and Sheffield. In 2023, the University achieved TEF Gold award and its apprenticeship provision was graded as “Outstanding” by Ofsted.

You will bring subject expertise in diagnostic radiography and work with experienced colleagues, including those from partner NHS organisations, to lead the development of our new diagnostic radiography courses. You will take on the role of Course Leader and, from September 2025, lead the delivery of the course to the inaugural cohort of students, in our purpose-built diagnostic radiography simulation facilities.

Commitment to an innovative student-centred learning experience is essential. You will have experience of working in higher education and a broad knowledge of contemporary radiographic clinical and research practice. You will be registered with the HCPC as a diagnostic radiographer and have recent post-registration diagnostic radiography clinical experience in the UK and experience of teaching and assessing undergraduate students. You will have a Masters degree and be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or have the capacity to obtain fellowship within 12 months of appointment.
